Arrived in Dar Es Salaam

IMG_1280We made it to Dar safe and sound today.   We were glad that the late afternoon traffic was not backed up as usual.   It was great to get on the ground for w while after two long flights.   Customs was a breeze through, praise God!    Once we got the the hotel and went to a local Bank ATM to get some cash (Tanzanian Shillings), we had some refreshments at the hotel and then went up to the 9th floor restaurant for a quiet dinner over looking the harbor.IMG_1285

Tomorrow we’ll get going on procuring the new server computer and other equipment we need for the upgrade at KBC.

These things aside, I’m really glad to get back in Tanzania.   It has become so familiar to me.   When ever I arrive here, I does not take long for me to realize how much I have missed it.

Everything has gone well so far.   I’m just hoping we don’t have problems with the flights across country.   We’ll be bringing a pretty good size load with us to the Airport on Thursday for the flight out to Kigoma.    I’m hoping that we don’t have problems of “overweighting” and having ship equipment out on later flights.

In Dubai

Here we are. Long flight! 12 hours, but they did feed us well. And it’s our last chance for a Starbucks coffee. Shaw, Cathy and I are just relaxing now before our flight to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Getting Ready to go

IMG_1262Cathy and I are currently getting things ready for our Trip to Tanzania on Monday.   We will post along the way and keep you up to date on what we are doing and experiencing.   I have to say that I am excited to be going back to a place that I have grown to love.   The land and the people are extraordinary.    I hope you will enjoy looking over our shoulders as we travel about and work on our projects.    This year we will be replacing the server and several computers at Kasulu Bible College. IMG_1263  Back in 2006, we installed the first computers with solar power and satellite Internet service.   Now in 2013, they have government supplied electric power and they have DSL Internet.     As the computers have aged, it’s time to freshen things up a bit.  We’ve got lots of new equipment as you can see.   And we’ll be picking up more equipment once we get to Dar Es Salaam.
