In Hannut, Belgium
This is the final visit of our two week tour of Germany and Belgium. Deborah Plas was our only exchange student from Belgium. She was with us in 2002 – 2003. We are staying with Deborah’s parents, Dominique and Leo in Hannut, Belgium. For our first evening we had dinner in the city of Leuven. Like so many of the cities we have visited during our trip, Leuven has a distinct center with lots of pedestrian walk ways lined with shops and restaurants. It’s something that I miss very much when I’m back in the USA. We just don’t have thriving downtown areas anymore in our smaller cities. Everything has moved out to the shopping malls.
